Important information about the exam
Prior to implementation of a new MFOM Part 2 in September 2024, the following will apply to all MFOM Part 2 candidates regardless of which curriculum they are following.
Marking
The Photo Hygiene paper and the OSPE must be taken in the same diet and a pass or fail will be awarded based on the combined marks achieved in both components.
The MCQ paper and the MEQ paper will be marked separately.
Banking
If a candidate passes the MCQ paper, their pass in the MCQ will be banked and the candidate will not re-sit it.
If a candidate passes the MEQ paper, their pass in the MEQ will be banked and the candidate will not re-sit it.
If a candidate passes the Photo Hygiene paper and the OSPE, their combined pass will be banked and the candidate will not re-sit Photo Hygiene or the OSPE.
Re-sits
With effect from September 2022, candidates are only required to re-sit the MCQ, MEQ, or combined Photo Hygiene and OSPE if they failed the MCQ and/or the MEQ and/or PH+OPSE combined.
On their first attempt at the MFOM Part 2 examination, all candidates are required to sit the MCQ, MEQ and PH+OPSE. The fee for this is £1,240.
The FOM believes that good work is good for health. We ask that you respect these values in your dealings with Faculty staff. We adopt a zero tolerance policy to verbal abuse or harassment of FOM staff. It is a condition of the agreement that you are making with the Faculty to sit a Faculty examination that you abide by this, and you should be aware that such behaviour may be result in escalation to the Board of Trustees and potentially the GMC.
